Remarks:
Although the above specimens were collected in nearby localities, these females clearly differed from each other in several respects. Coloration and structure of the genitalia generally agree both with each other and with Macedonian specimens of
R. doiranensis
. The specimens from loc. 24 are considerably smaller (forewing length
8.4–8.8 mm
; those from loc. 23 9.0–
9.2 mm
). The genital sclerites of specimens from loc. 24 (
Fig. 2
) were identical with Macedonian specimens, however, the females from loc. 23 (
Figs. 1, 3
) have more extensively sclerotized vulvar sclerites and anterior surface expansion of the pregenital plate, while the postgenital plate is more narrow and less acute but with a rounded apex. Since no males were available for study from both localities, it was not possible to conclude if the Anatolian specimens are conspecific or belonging to two different taxa. At this time we report both collections as
R.
cf.
doiranensis
because males are required to confirm the identification of
R. doiranensis
in
Turkey
.
Distribution and ecology.
Rhabdiopteryx doiranensis
is known from southeastern
Macedonia
(FYROM) (
Ikonomov 1983
,
Murányi
et al.
2014
). In addition to this area, one other single female has been reported from
Muğla Province
of
Turkey
(
Kazanci 2000
, Darlimaz
et al.
2016). The above specimens are from the adjacent province of the southwestern coast of
Turkey
(
Fig. 11
). In
Macedonia
, the species inhabits temporary streams in lowlands and emerges in late winter to early spring (
Murányi
et al.
2014
). The Anatolian habitats are also small, possibly not permanent streams, at low or medium elevations with a Mediterranean climate (
Figs. 12–13
). The above specimens from
Aydin Province
are obviously late emerging females. At loc. 23, the two specimens of
R.
cf.
doiranensi
were collected with three females of a
Nemoura
Latreille, 1796
species and a male of
Isoperla lesbica
Zwick, 1978
. At loc. 24, the three specimens were collected with a single male
N. taurica
Zhiltzova, 1967
.
