A review of some of the Binna- like species of Afrotropical Spilosoma Curtis (1825) listed by Goodger & Watson (1995) and including the genus Radiarctia Dubatolov (2006) (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae, Arctiinae) Author Haynes, Patrick G. text Zootaxa 2011 2811 22 36 journal article 10.5281/zenodo.277133 8b83dff2-5e62-4f60-8077-50010250d166 1175-5326 277133 Radiarctia Dubatolov, 2006 Radiarctia Dubatolov, 2006 : 148 . Spilosoma (partim) Curtis, 1825 . Type species: Diacrisia jacksoni Rothschild, 1910 : 140 , by original designation. The genus Radiarctia was established by Dubatolov (2006) for four Afrotropical Arctiinae formerly placed in Spilosoma Curtis (1825) . Radiarctia are comparatively robust with distinct interneural patches or stripes. The valvae are wide and mostly bifurcate apically and the vesicae display distinct groups of pin-like cornuti; Dubatolov (2006) considered this character autapomorphic for the genus. As old, worn or faded specimens of mostly R. screabile are frequently misidentified in collections (see Introduction), screabile is redescribed in full below.
