MALE. Body length 2.4–3.7 mm , wing length 2.7–4.0 mm. FEMALE. Body length 2.3–3.1 mm , wing length 2.9–3.9 mm . Head yellow. Frons yellow, wider than long and parallel–sided, with 2 brown stripes extending to ocellar triangle; ocellar triangle black; oc strong, almost as long as anterior or , anterior or inclinate, posterior or longer than 1/2 of anterior or . Face white to pale yellow, with a pair of shining brown stripe–like spots between stomatic margin and parafacial; gena about 1/8 height of eye. Antenna yellow except 1st flagellomere blackish brown on basal 2/3; 1st flagellomere 2.0 times longer than high; arista brown, long plumose, with longest hairs 2.0 times longer than height of 1st flagellomere. Proboscis yellow except blackish brown on apical margin, with yellow and slightly dark hairs; palpus blackish brown except yellow on basal 1/ 3, with dark hairs. Thorax blackish brown except yellow on basal 1/4–1/3. Mesoscutum with a pair of yellow median stripes on basal 1/3; 0+3 dc , acr in 6 rows; prsc absent; 1 mpl , 1 stpl . Scutellum brownish yellow except black on basal 1/2. Legs brownish yellow; mid and hind femora white except brown at tip; mid tibia pale brown on basal 2/3. Fore femur with 2 pv and 3 pd , ctenidium with 8–10 short bristles; fore tibia with 1 weak preapical ad and 1 apv . Mid femur with 5 a ; mid tibia with 1 preapical ad and 2 strong apv (one very long, another very short, slightly longer than maximum diameter of mid tibia). Hind tibia with 1 weak preapical ad and 1 short apv . Wing ( Fig. 2 ) with a hyaline costal stripe extending to M1+2, but not confluent with a hyaline stripe on hind margin; a narrow hyaline apical stripe between R4+5 and M1+2 and an elliptic hyaline spot beyond r-m ; a tinged brown umbrella–like spot on r-m and a tinged brown triangular stripe over m-m ; subcostal cell tinged brown; costa with 2nd (between R1 and R2+3), 3rd (between R2+3 and R4+5) and 4th (between R4+5 and M1+2) sections in proportion of 1.8 mm : 0.5mm : 0.5 mm ; r-m at 2/3 point of discal cell; ultimate and penultimate sections of M1+ 2 in proportion of 1.2 mm : 1.2 mm ; ultimate section of CuA1 about 1/4 of penultimate. Halter pale yellow, knob blackish brown except tinged yellow tip. Abdomen brownish black except pale brownish yellow on protandrium and epandrium, with sparse grayish white pollen. Male genitalia ( Figs. 8–12 ): protandrium circular; epandrium broad, almost U–shaped in posterior view; surstylus with a subuliform and incurved process; hypandrium U–shaped and gonopod spoon–like with a long hair in ventral view; aedeagus with a pair of triangular basal processes and with a pair of subuliform apical processes in ventral view; aedeagal apodeme Y–shaped, about 1.8 times as long as aedeagus. Type material. Holotype male, Hainan: Jianfengling National Nature Reserve, Ledong, Zhiwuyuan ( 8000 m ), 24. X. 2007 , Ding Yang. Paratypes : 4 males , 3 females , data same as holotype . Distribution. China (Hainan). Remarks. The new species is somewhat similar to Noonamyia bisubulata sp. nov. from China (Hainan) in the following characters: face with a pair of shining brown stripe–like spots between stomatic margin and parafacials; palpus blackish brown except yellow on basal 1/3; hind tibia with a preapical ad ; abdomen brownish black except protandrium and epandrium pale brownish yellow. But it can be separated from the latter by the protandrium circular without ventral bridge, the surstylus with a subuliform and incurved process, the hypandrium U–shaped and the gonopod spoon–like. In bisubulata , the protandrium is circular with ventral bridge, the surstylus consists of a short awl–shaped process and a long curved awl–shaped process; the hypandrium is nearly W–shaped and the gonopod has two acuate furcated apical processes. The new species also differs from euphlebia Sasakawa from Malaysia in the gonopod spoon–like and the membranous area of the aedeagus without tooth. In euphlebia , the gonopod is acinaciform and the membranous area of the aedeagus has small teeth ( Sasakawa 1998 ). Etymology. Latinized from the English word ‘umbrella’, referring to a tinged brown umbrella–like spot on r-m ; a feminine noun.
