Inhabits lower montane forests and in the montane cloud forests of the Andean regions from 1710-1800 m a.s.l. It was also registered in the evergreen foothill forests and evergreen lower montane forests in the Amazon region from 925-1700 m a.s.l. Collected with pitfall traps baited with human feces. The lectotype is here designated and illustrated (♂ deposited at the NMPC, Plate 56B) and belongs to the locality Ecuador, Jivaria [= eastern slopes of the Andes mountains].
