"Habitat in montibus Viennensibus, Euganeis." RCN: 4108. Lectotype (Mathew, Hellebores : 112. 1989): Herb. Linn. No. 718.5 ( LINN ) . Current name: Helleborus viridis L. subsp. viridis ( Ranunculaceae ). Note: Zanotti & Cristofolini (in Webbia 49: 7, f. 3a. 1994) designated Herb. Clifford: 227, Helleborus 4 ( BM ) as lectotype . However, their choice is pre-dated by that of Mathew. Although he did not provide a sheet number, there is only one sheet at LINN assocated with this name and (on p. 111), he indicates that Linnaeus' "type specimen" belongs to the larger flowered form found in northern Italy and Austria.
