Etymology
. The specific name is a Portuguese noun in apposition, derived from the region where the species occurs: Amazon River.
Diagnosis
. Both sexes resemble similar congener
Nops maculatus
by having the abdominal pattern with an irregular longitudinal dark gray stripe throughout the dorsum similar as in figure 6J, and the PLS two times longer than PMS; but can be distinguished by having an embolus prolaterally sinuous in males (
Fig. 46B‒D
) and females with receptaculum without invagination (
Figs 46G
; 47A).
Description
.

(
holotype
): Carapace orange (
Fig. 46A
); chelicerae, legs, coxae, labium, endites and sternum yellowish orange. Abdomen light gray, dorsal pattern with an irregular longitudinal dark gray stripe throughout the dorsum as in figure 6J, lighter ventrally. Anal tubercle and spinnerets light gray. Total length 8.8. Carapace 5.15 long, 3.8 wide. Sternum 4.7 long, 3.2 wide. Leg measurements: I: 4.0; II: 3.75; III: 3.4; IV: 4.05. Posterior unpaired claws small, as in other three‒clawed spiders.
