Hydraena arachthi
Ferro & Jäch,
2000
in the Peloponnese
H. arachthi
was described on the basis of a single male collected in
1991 in
the Arachthos River, on the border between Arta and Ioannina districts, Ipiros province, western
Greece
. The species was so far only known from the
holotype
, and is apparently closely related to
Hydraena cappadocica
Jäch, 1988
. A single teneral male of
H. arachthi
was found in marginal gravels on
26/vi/
2012
in the Alphios River nr. Archaea Olympia, this being the first record from the Peloponnese, and a significant range extension for this apparently rare species.
Hydraena simonidea
Orchymont
was found with
H. arachthi
in the Alphios, together with numerous
H. morio
and
H. subjuncta
.
