Generic characters.
Body medium, stout. Wings short, most species with wings reaching apex of abdomen, but micropterous, squamipterous or nearly apterous species also occur. Tegminal veins nearly parallel and straight. Male ninth abdominal tergite furrowed in the midline, the apical area of lateral lobe swollen and terminates into 2 strongly sclerotized processes. Male subgenital plate transverse, subapical area with a pair of robust styli. Ovipositor short, strongly curved upwards.
