New synonymy . Specimens examined: 188 including holotypes of Canidia spinicornis Bates and Pseudocanidia cuernavacae Dillon , and 3 paratypes of the latter. Found in southcentral Mexico (Map 1). Remarks: Among the Canidia species having a rounded apical process on the scape, C. spinicornis is easily recognizable by the parallelsided pronotum that is finely and densely punctate with the punctures being much smaller than those at the base of the elytra, the contrasting white and brown vittate pattern of the pronotum, and the mottled appendages. Although Dillon noted the existence of Bates’ spinicornis , he misinterpreted the original description and did not include this species in his revision.
