Ecology:— Common; terrestrial in humid forests, often along streams and on clayey soils ( Tuomisto & Ruokolainen 1994 ); mostly below 1000 m , but occasionally to 1550 m . Notes:— Differs from superficially similar Dennstaedtia bipinnata ( Dennstaedtiaceae ) by its erect, scaly rhizomes and submarginal sori.
