Cells are Gram-stain positive, aerobic, non-motile and coccoid. Colonies are milk-white, circular, opaque and convex with entire margins on TSA (pH 7). The optimal pH for growth is pH 7.0–8.0 and no growth is observed at pH 5. Positive for oxidase, catalase and b- glucosidase activities. Nitrate is not reduced to nitrite. The main menaquinone is MK-7. The peptidoglycan
