Al. gallicola: 1.5–2.3 mm , primary rhinaria on ant. segment V extending more than half-way around the segment, usually not occupying more than half the length of the segment. Gall terminal, shorter (about 3 cm ) and usually straighter than in P. cembrae , with needles more or less decumbent and distributed to all sides. Holocyclic and dioecious, alternating between Picea and Pinus (see also p. 30). Recorded primary hosts Pinaceae : Picea jezoensis , orientalis * , pungens , torano , spp. (but not abies !).
