Characteristics.
Perennial herb. Bulbs subglobose. Peduncles erect, branched, to
1 m
tall. Basal leaves scarce, linear in shape, parallel-veined, folded, to
35 cm
long,
2.5 cm
wide. Inflorescence: a cyme (rhipidium); bracts unequal, with 1–2 flowers; tepals orange-brown, filaments free, styles entire. Fruit: a capsule.
Comments.
This is a rare species in the study area. It grows in full sunlight conditions in rock cracks on slopes. It is very similar to
C. herbertii
ssp.
herbertii
, but this last species presents vivid orange tepals and united filaments.
