Diagnosis.
Wing length
1.5–2 mm
. Fronto-orbital plate yellowish; pedicel partially yellowish; legs brown, with apex of femur and base of tibia yellow in fore leg; calypter yellowish, fringe white. Aedeagus (Fig. 189 and
190 in
Spencer & Stegmaier 1973
): basiphallus slightly sclerotized, forming two extensions distally; mesophallus elongated, wide basally; distiphallus short and sclerotized, forming two short tubules covered by one pair of plates.

Calycomyza lantanae
has a wide distribution, with records of this species across the New World (
Benavent-Corai
et al.
2005
). Larvae of this species
form blotches
on the surface of the leaves of host-plants.
