Etymology.
The specific name is a patronym in honor of the first author’s father, Claudio de Jesus Silva, nick- named Couto.
Diagnosis.
Females of
M. coutoi
sp. nov.
are readily distinguished from all other
Myrmecium
species by the large copulatory openings in relation to the secondary spermathecae, longer neck and larger primary spermathecae (
Figs 4D, E
). Male: unknown.
Description.
Female
(
holotype
): carapace dark, smooth vitreous, covered with longs with hairs sternum smooth vitreous dark reddish-brown (
Figs 4A, B
); endites and labium reddish-brown; chelicerae dark reddish-brown (
Fig. 4C
). Abdomen brown and smooth, scutum small. Legs orange (in alcohol). Chelicerae: promarginal teeth 3; retromarginal teeth 5. Sternum and carapace not fused between legs II and III; coxae II separated from coxae III approximately twice coxae II width; sternal posterior plate T-shaped. Total length 10.20, carapace 5.64 long, 1.35 wide. Eye diameters: AME 0.14, ALE 0.10, PME 0.13, PLE 0.11. Leg measurements: I—femur 3.03 / tibia 3.00 / metatarsus 2.41; II—femur 2.58/ tibia 2.35 / metatarsus 1.93; III— femur 1.92 / tibia 2.18 / metatarsus 2.01; IV—femur 3.13 / tibia 2.89 / metatarsus 3.03. Leg spination: I—tibia vp1-0-1-1-0, vr0-0-1-1-0; metatarsus vp0-1-0-1-0, vr0-1-0-1-0. II—tibia vp0-0-0-1-0; metatarsus p1-0-0-0-0, vp0-0-1-0-0, vr1-0-0-1-0. III—tibia vp0-1-0-1-0, vr0-1-0-1- 0; vp1- 0-0-1-0, vr1-0-0-1-0. IV—tibia p0-0-1-0-0, vr0-0-0-1-0; metatarsus vp0-1-0-0-0, vr0-1-0-1-0. Copulatory openings positioned laterally, large and sclerotized, secondary spermathecae long and curved, separated from each other by about twice their width, neck long and narrow, primary spermathecae large and globose (
