Type :— AFGHANISTAN . s.d. , Griffith 637 ( lectotype K000708770!, designated here) ; isolectotypes CAL0000019048!,CAL0000019049!, K000708769! Notes:— Schrenk (1842a) described Pedicularis dolichorhiza based on the specimens collected by him from Mount. Dschabyk, Kazakhstan . Four specimens of Schrenk from Mount. Dschabyk, Kazakhstan were traced, one each at BR, NY, PH and W (BR0000005424146, NY 00090927, PH 00019459 and W1889-0151399), but no original material is found at LE herbarium. Therefore, the better preserved specimen NY00090927, is designated here as the lectotype . Pedicularis dolichorhiza was validly described by Schrenk in Bull. Cl. Phys.-Math. Acad. Imp. Sci. Saint-Pétersbourg 1(5): 80. 1842 [ 18 May 1842 ]. The exact date of print is given at the end of the page. Few month later, again described in detail by Schrenk in Enum. Pl. Nov. [F.E.L. Fischer & C.A. Meyer] 23. 1842 [ 22 Oct. 1842 ] where the earlier place of publication is quoted. Bentham (1846) described P.cabulica based on the collection number 637 of Griffith from Kabul , Afghanistan . Four specimens of this collection were traced, two at K (K000708769 and K000708770) and two at CAL ( CAL 0000019048 and CAL 0000019049). The better preserved specimen K000708770, is designated here as the lectotype .
