Type species Succinea effusa L. Pfeiffer, 1853 by original designation. Remarks The degree of coiling and folding of the epiphallus was used by Pilsbry (1948) as the sole anatomical character to separate Neoxyloma from Oxyloma s. str. The validity of this classification schema has yet to be properly evaluated with molecular phylogenetic and anatomical analyses.
