Parco Naturale delle Alpi Marittime:
AB, AND-I sparse.
General distribution:
Northern, southern
Italy
; Italian, Swiss, Austrian Alps; Holarctic, Oriental.
Habitat preferences:
silvicolous; xerophilous.
Remarks:
A morphological differentiation between
E. oblongus
and
E. valkanovi
(Kunst, 1957)
is given by
Weigmann (2006)
, but in the present material the different characters are not always clearly distinguishable. The specimens show a high variability and a mosaic pattern of characters in-between the species. A synonymy of
E. valkanovi
is suspected by
Subías (2004
, electronic update 2021) and
Seniczak
et al
. (2014)
.
