Boulard (1975)
placed the species in
Zammara
without explanation.
Distant (1905b)
originally described it in
Orellana
, which is considered to be valid (
Boulard and Sueur 1996
; see below). However, the species has two tarsomeres rather than the three tarsomeres of
O. columbia
(the
type
species for the genus). As a result, the species is reassigned to
Zammara
. The species is known from
Colombia
and
Ecuador
(
Metcalf 1963a
) but no specific locations in
Colombia
have been published.
