Type locality: South America. Holotype male, in NHMUK (not examined). Remarks. Sarcophaga subsericans Walker, 1858 was listed among the “Unidentified nominal species-group taxa assigned to Sarcophaginae ” by Pape (1996: 446) . Nigel Wyatt (NHMUK) kindly informed us that the holotype is in poor condition, slightly moldy and with the head missing. He also informed us that the size and type of terminalia fit a species of Oxysarcodexia , that the abdomen is silver-gray pollinose at the base and more yellowish-gray on tergites 4 and 5, and that the terminalia are orange with pale yellowish pollinosity.
