Diagnosis.
In the key of
Zucchi (2000a)
A. oiapoquensis
runs to
A. barbiellinii
Lima
or
A. minensis
Lima
and in that of
Steyskal (1977)
it runs to
A. barbiellinii
. It differs from both species in the shape of the aculeus tip, which does not taper gradually, the more extensive serrations of the tip (distal 0.41 serrate, vs. less than distal
0.3 in
A. barbiellinii
and
A. minensis
), and having vein M weakly curved apically. It also somewhat resembles
A. vermespinata
Tigrero
, but differs in having shorter terminalia and in the shape of the aculeus tip (serrate part broader than long in
A. vermespinata
). The large number of hook-like dorsobasal scales on the eversible membrane and the relatively distal position of crossvein r-m are also useful diagnostic characters.

Description.
Mostly orange, white to pale yellow markings not well developed in
holotype
. Setae mostly lost, orange brown.
Head: Orange except brown ocellar tubercle. Setae mostly lost; 2–3 alveoli for frontal setae; 2 alveoli for orbital setae, posterior seta apparently well developed. Ocellar seta weak, as long as ocellar tubercle. Facial carina, in profile, straight dorsally and medially. Antennae lost.
Thorax: Mostly orange, without brown markings, typical white to pale yellow areas not well differentiated in
holotype
except postpronotal lobe and scutellum. Subscutellum and mediotergite entirely orange. Mesonotum

Postpronotal lobe and scutellum entirely microtrichose; scutum microtrichose medially and laterally, nonmicrotrichose from slightly lateral to acrostichal line to intra-alar line; scutal setulae orange. Chaetotaxy typical for genus. Katepisternal seta weak, only twice as long as katepisternal setulae.
Legs: Entirely yellow to orange.

Crossvein r-m at 0.70 distance from bm-cu to dm-cu on vein M. Vein M weakly curved apically; cell r4+5 1.15 times as wide at apex as at level of dm-cu. Cell bcu with distal lobe relatively short, length of bcu 1.27 times as long as anterior margin. Wing pattern orange and moderate brown. C-band mostly orange; most of pterostigma and narrow distal margin of band in cells r1, r2+3 and br brown. C-band and S-band narrowly connected along vein R4+5, marginal hyaline area distal to apex of vein R1 subtriangular, extended to vein R4+5, its apex aligned proximal to crossvein r-m. Hyaline area in cell br large and elongate, reaching vein R4+5 and ca. 2 times as long as distal colored area of cell; cell dm with basal hyaline area large. S-band with margins, except proximal margin in cell dm, mostly narrowly brown, and posterodistal two-thirds of band in cell cu1 brown; posterior margin without incision in cell cu1; distal section of band moderately broad, at apex of vein R2+3 0.62 times width of cell r2+3, even in width, well separated from apex of vein M, mostly brown, most of central part orange in cells r1 and r2+3; hyaline area proximal to apex of band extending almost to vein R2+3. V-band complete, brown except most of proximal arm in cell r4+5; proximal arm separated from S-band, with basal extension along wing margin extending more than two-thirds distance to vein A1+Cu2; distal arm moderately broad, connected to proximal arm and extending to vein R4+5.
Abdomen: Mostly orange, without brown markings.
Female terminalia: Oviscape
