( O. ) riedeli (Zimbabwe, Sebakwe). Scale bar 1 mm. Differential diagnosis. Similar to O. minutum and O. secundum sp. n. but differ from the latter in having deeper elytral striae, more convex intervals, and more densely punctate pronotum and head, and from the former in having completely reduced elytral pattern, less convex intervals on the disc of elytra, and elongate punctures on the pronotum. Redescription. Body length 3.84–4.25 mm ; width 2.89–3.23 mm . Habitus ( Fig. 17 ). Color: head, pronotum, elytra, and mandibles dark brown. Legs, antennae, mouth parts and lateral elytral pattern brownish yellow. Labrum, sides of pronotum and external interval of elytra of pearl color. Venter brown. Head fairly flat, coarsely punctate laterally and posteriorly. Subocular ridge well developed, curved upwards and slightly rounded. Clypeus moderately punctate near hind margin, bisetose. Labrum with almost straight anterior margin, with moderately rounded sides and six setae. Antennal scape unisetose at apex, antennomeres 3 and 4 smooth, with only some longer setae near the apex. Antennomeres 5–11 pubescent. Medial side of fourth palpomere of maxillary palpi distinctly curved, last palpomere with acute apex. Gula smooth, gena rugose and coarsely punctate. HW: 1.36 –1.64 mm . FIGURES 17–18. Habitus of Omophron minutum —species group, dorsal view: 17— O. ( O. ) clavareaui ; 18— O. (O) secundum sp. n. (Holotype). Scale bar 5 mm. Pronotum (PL: 1.15–1.24 mm , PW: 2.47–2.74 mm .) distinctly convex, base bisinuated on each side, sides evenly rounded, with wide border, without pattern. Anterior angles acute and prominent. Disc of pronotum evenly coarsely and densely punctate, punctures slightly elongate. Median impression obsolete. Prosternum and proepisternum coarsely and densely punctate, proepipleura with 2–3 small punctures in anterior half. Elytra (EL: 2.31–2.71 mm , EW: 2.89–3.23 mm .) very convex, sides strongly rounded, with border gradually narrowed from shoulders to apices. Elytral pattern barely visible, consisting of diffused brown lateral band. Elytra with 15 striae. Striae densely punctate, punctures moderately deep. Intervals 1–5 almost flat on disc, lateral intervals clearly convex. Venter ( Fig. 19 ). Mesepisternum punctate. Metasternum sparsely punctate on center, metepisternum and metepimeron coarsely and densely punctate, elytral epipleura crumpled and irregularly punctate. Ventrites IV and V punctate laterally and with row of punctures along transverse furrow; ventrite VI with large and coarse punctures throughout. Metacoxa bisetose, with 8–9 additional punctures. Aedeagus ( Fig. 13 ), ventral side of median lobe slightly and evenly arcuate from base to apex. Apical lamella in dorsal view wide and widely rounded. Apex strongly downturned. Distribution. Chad , Democratic Republic of Congo , Tanzania , Zambia , Zimbabwe (Map. 2). References: Csiki 1927 ; Deleve 1924 ; Rousseau 1900 .
