Afrotropical Limnophora Robineau-Desvoidy (Diptera, Muscidae) with the description of four new species Author Couri, Márcia Author Pont, Adrian text Zootaxa 2017 4216 6 501 536 journal article 37328 10.5281/zenodo.242395 92230737-0e1b-4d86-9c80-6562b0f1793e 1175-5326 242395 FF708257-E9A3-4C91-AD18-50326BB9676A Limnophora capensis Paterson, 1955 : 142 . Holotype male in NMSA. Paratype male seen in BMNH; in good condition. Diagnosis. Presutural spots separated posteriorly or wholly fused, sometimes narrowly connected within the presutural band on a median line, but not extending on to postpronotal callosity (which differentiates this species from L. flavibasis Stein, 1906 ); postsutural dorsocentrals 4; mid femur with 2 posterior preapical setae; mid tibia with 2 posterior setae; costal spine not distinct; first abdominal segments yellow; sternite 5 with a dense patch of thick spines. Notes. L. capensis , together with L. terrestris Paterson, 1955 , keys out to L. translucida Stein, 1913 , at couplet 25 of Emden’s (1951) key. Paterson (1955) gave a key to separate these three species. L. terrestris is herein proposed as a junior synonym of L. translucida ( syn. nov. ) (see note under L . translucida ).
