Type data: This species was described based on males collected in Pernambuco state , northeastern Brazil . Moure & Seabra (1962) mentioned that the type of this species was housed at NHMUK , providing information on the data label. Moure & Seabra’s interpretation can be treated as a valid lectotype designation, according to Article 74.6 of the ICZN (1999). The specimen designated has the following data label: Type H. T . Type [handwritten]\ B4 [handwritten]. The type specimen has the left foreleg and flagellum missing. Type locality: Brazil : Pernambuco state . Comments: Silveira et al . (2002) did not include C . decorata in the list of Brazilian species of Centris ( Ptilotopus ) . Moure et al . (2007) interpreted correctly the identity of this species.
