Table 1 . Identification. The Giant Anteater is the only species of genus Myrmecophaga . Its large size, long and furry tail, the large black stripe running from its throat towards its back, bordered by a thin white stripe, and its long and pointy snout make this species clearly distinct from any other in the region.
