Diagnosis
. Among species on
Nannotrigona
occurring in
Colombia
, this species can be easily recognized by its small body size (~
3.4 mm
in body length), and shiny and sparsely punctate mesoscutum and mesoscutellum. An- other species,
N. dutrae
(Friese)
from northeastern
Brazil
, shares the same morphological features. However, in that species the omaulus is strongly carinate and the clypeus and paraocular area are largely glabrous (omaulus rounded and clypeus and paraocular area distinctly pubescent in
N. schultzei
).
