New Synonymies and Notes on North American Loxandrus LeConte (Coleoptera: Carabidae) Author Bousquet, Yves text The Coleopterists Bulletin 2006 2006-06-30 60 2 145 157 http://dx.doi.org/10.1649/865.1 journal article 10.1649/865.1 1938-4394 19. Loxandrus pusillus LeConte, 1852:252 This taxon was described from one specimen collected in « Georgia ». The holotype , a female in LeConte’s collection in MCZ , is labelled «[orange disc]/Type 5699/ pusillus Lec. parvulus Chd f[?]. Sallé [handwritten]» . The specimen (SBL ¼ 6.8 mm ) belongs to the agilis group and is conspecific with specimens of L. minutus Allen, 1972 [NEW SYNONYMY]. This species belongs to a subgroup of several closely related species. However, I was unable to find any structural differences between the holotype of L. pusillus and the two paratypes of L. minutus I have seen. The name L. pusillus was listed as a junior synonym of L. velox piciventris (LeConte) by Schaupp (1880:20) but the lectotype of L. piciventris is clearly not conspecific with the holotype of L. pusillus .
