English diagnosis
With the characters of the genus
Laurencia
such as four pericentral cells, but lacking secondary pit connections between cortical cells and ‘corps en cerise’ inclusions in cortical cells.
Etymology
Ohelopapa
means “strawberry” in Tahitian, an allusion to the Tahitian origin, the red color, and the many stolons developed by
Ohelopapa fexilis
.
