The genus Firmothrips includes a single species, and this is widespread in the Palaearctic Region (Milab-balou et al. , 2014; Zhang et al. , 2018 ). Wang et al. (2019) suggested this genus might be sister group of Kakothrips . Abdominal tergites V–VII of firmus lack ctenidia, and tergite VIII is often with no or very weak ctenidia. Specimens examined. CZECHOSLOVAKIA : Slovakia, 1 female on Vicia cracca , 30.v.1964 , V. F. Eastop (NHM). SWEDEN : NN. Rada Sin, Sjögeränd, 1 male on Potentilla erecta [ Rosaceae ], U. Qvick, 9.vi.1974 (NHM).
