The genus
Firmothrips
includes a single species, and this is widespread in the Palaearctic Region (Milab-balou
et al.
, 2014;
Zhang
et al.
, 2018
).
Wang
et al.
(2019)
suggested this genus might be sister group of
Kakothrips
. Abdominal tergites V–VII of
firmus
lack ctenidia, and tergite VIII is often with no or very weak ctenidia.
