Diagnosis:
Usually a smaller species, the total body length of both sexes is
8–12 mm
(without ovipositor). Ovipositor is
5–10 mm
long, elongated, 2.8–4.1× long as the whole body, with whitish apex 1.5–1.9× as long as third basitarsus. Head matte, very finely sculptured, with only an ill-developed occipital carina (similar to
G. assectator
). Antesternal carina is short and ill-developed. Mesonotum finely rugose with a satin shine.
Distribution:
Paleo-montane species. Recorded in mountains, in Europe most records are from the Alps (
Austria
,
Germany
and
Switzerland
), known also from
Croatia
,
Hungary
,
Montenegro
and
Turkey
