Chevrolat described Myriochila speculifera (Chevrolat) a junior synonym of this species from the environs of Macao , while Cassola (1991) , Schilder (1911) , Hua (2002) , Puchkov & Matalin (2003) , Sawada & Wiesner (2004) and Shook & Wiesner (2006) list M. speculifera for Hong Kong . John Bowring wrote in a letter dated 2nd June 1851 "Among my most recent captures are my Cicindela speculifera , now out, and of which I took fifteen specimens yesterday, also a few of the three other species of which I sent specimens to the British Museum last year." (Anon 1851). Chen et al. (2002) list Cicindela specularis Chaudoir. Material : Ƌ. Hong Kong , Lantau, Shap Long, 14.v.07 Shap Long, Lantau; 1 ex. and Ƌ. Hong Kong , Lantau, Shap Long 14.v.07 ; 1 ex. Hong Kong , Lantau, Pui O, 25.v.07 Pui O; Sight record Hong Kong , Lantau, Pui O, 27.v.06 ; 1 ex. 6.vi.15 Hong Kong , Lantau, Pui O, on muddy edge of Buffalo wallah, up to 20 others seen at same wallah, when the Water Buffalo went in the water, it caused a wave which killed at least 2 of this species. Biology : Imago found May to June. It can be found in high densities (up to about 60 per m2 have been counted by the author) around muddy pools of fresh or saline water. Fully winged and readily fies. Myriochila ( Myriochile ) sinica ( Fleutiaux, 1889 ) Fleutiaux 1889 described this species from Saigon (now Ho Chi Min City) Vietnam .
