Macrostemum negrense (Flint 1978) ; Flint et al. , 1999: 68 [taxonomic notes; distribution]; Paprocki et al. , 2004: 8 [distribution]. Macrostemum negrense can be diagnosed by the medial dorsal prominence on the basal segment of each inferior appendage. The phallotremal sclerite resembles that of M. braueri but has dorsal processes. The forewings are also similar to those of M. braueri but in M. negrense the dark spot on the apical area delimits two boot-shaped hyaline areas. Description. Adults pinned. Forewing mean length 7.3 mm ( 6.58–8.03 mm , n=11). Head brown on anterior and yellow on posterior region. Compound eyes brown. Scapes yellow with ferruginous and yellow setae. Maxillary palps brown with yellow setae. Prothorax yellow. Meso- and metathorax yellow. Legs brownish-yellow. Tibial spur formula 2,4,4. Forewings mostly hyaline, each with one dark spot bordering apical area and delimiting two boot-shaped hyaline areas; discoidal cell present; radial sector markedly expanded ( Fig. 12 A). Male genitalia. Abdominal segment IX, in lateral view, with anterior margin nearly straight; posterior margin sinuous, deeply notched, bordered by setae above and below notch ( Fig. 12 B); in dorsal view, with posterior margin bearing rounded medial keel and long setae bordering right and left margins ( Fig. 12 E);. Segment X, in dorsal view, bilobed, each lobe with rounded apex and subapical wart; pair of subdorsal rows of small setae extending from middle of tergum to subapical warts ( Fig. 12 E); in lateral view, subtriangular with blunt apex, with a subdorsal row of small setae on distal half and another bordering ventrolateral margin on each side ( Fig. 12 B). Inferior appendages covered uniformly by small setae; each with basal segment only slightly longer than apical segment and with dorsal prominence at midlength ( Fig. 12 B). Phallus arched; apex rounded ( Fig. 12 C); phallotremal sclerite bearing pair of dorsal, spine-like processes; anterior margin concave, convex posterior margin bearing pair of rounded prominences ( Fig. 12 D); phallotrema rounded, concave, apically positioned on posterodorsal surface of phallus ( Fig. 12 D).
