The taxonomy of Neotropical Brunettiina (Diptera, Psychodidae, Psychodinae, Mormiini), with descriptions of ten new species from Brazil and comments on the generic classification of the subtribe Author Bravo, Freddy text Zootaxa 2006 1134 1 28 journal article 10.5281/zenodo.171921 56a6a283-f7b9-40c7-9391-cb73c1a5db83 11755326 171921 Brunettia dominicana ( Wagner, 1999 ) , comb. nov. Atrichobrunettia dominicana Wagner, 1999 : 238 –240, figs. 17–24. Comments. This species has wings with developed costal and anal areas and the radial fork proximal to the medial fork. These two characteristics are typical of the species of Brunettia and, therefore, this species is not a species of Atrichobrunettia as proposed by Wagner (1999) . According to Wagner (1999) , this species has a rupture at the base of R1, a characteristic only observed in species of the subgenus Neobrunettia . However, other characteristics of B. dominicana can be viewed as conflicting with the observed characteristics of the species of the subgenus Neobrunettia : Sc sclerotized, which is considered a diagnostic character of Neobrunettia , and eyes separated by 1 facet diameter. Until new evidence is presented, this species is best considered unplaced. Specimens of this species were not studied, but the original description and the original figures of Wagner (1999) are sufficient for their identification. Distribution. Dominican Republic .
