REMARKS: Criteria to make this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in this work. “ Flebotomus ” was actually the original spelling of the genus in Rondani (1840) , but the I.C.Z.N. (1954: 201 [Opinion 256]) ruled that Phlebotomus was the correct original spelling, so occurrences of “ Flebotomus ” after 1840 are incorrect subsequent spellings.
