Type
material (examined).
Holotype
: P.50646.001 (mounted on an SEM stub, gender unknown),
Wongalinga Beach
,
Queensland
(Australian Museum, Sydney).
Remarks.
Examination of the
holotype
using light microscopy revealed that this species lacks capillary furrows on the second antenna, and that the postfrons and profrons of the cephalothorax are clearly delimited (not fused).
These
characters validate its taxonomic position as a true member of the genus
Trichorhina
, thus confirming the presence of the genus and family
Platyarthridae
(albeit that it is polyphyletic;
Javidkar
et al.
2015
) in
Australia
