A catalogue of the types of Platygastridae (Hymenoptera, Platygastroidea) at the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris, with brief notes on the history of the collection Author Notton, David G. text Zootaxa 2010 2010-02-12 2358 1 24 journal article 10.11646/zootaxa.2358.1.1 ef953f73-414f-4e8a-83a7-7ec993cb2bcf 1175-5326 275686 Platygaster marchali Kieffer, 1906: 129 , figs 8–9. Syntypes ♀(♀); 3(3), France , environs of Paris (lost). Remarks. Marchal (1900) originally referred material reared from Dasineura ulmaria (Bremi, 1847) (as Perrisia ulmariae Br. ) from galls on Filipendula ulmariae (Linnaeus) Maxim. (as Spiraea ulmaria ) to Polygnotus niger (Nees, 1834) but Kieffer (1906) considered it did not belong to that species and described Marchal’s material as two new species P. marchali and Platygaster ornatus q.v. Since Kieffer’s description of this species was based on Marchal’s material it might be expected that the types would be found either in Kieffer’s collection or Marchal’s collection. One slide was found in Marchal’s collection in the MNHN (the same slide as mentioned below under P. o r n a t u s q.v.), with one female and two males labelled ‘ Polygnotus sp.’ reared from ‘ Cecid. ulmaria ’ which may belong to this species, however, these specimens are not syntypic because the date does not agree with that stated by Kieffer. These specimens are mentioned here because they may be useful for future revisers in the interpretation of this species and possibly for the designation of a neotype , should the original type material not be located. The effective publication date of P. marchali is 31.v.1906 since Marchal (1906) refers to Kieffer’s paper as having been published and Marchal’s paper has the imprint publication date 1.vi.1906 . Although Kieffer only gave the type locality of P. marchali as ‘environs de Paris’, the details given by Marchal (1900) show that the type locality was probably Fontenay–aux–Roses, Hauts–de–Seine or Saint–Leu–la–Forêt, Val d’Oise.
