n. sp.
DIAGNOSIS. This species can be distinguished from other species in the family by the combination of characters given in the description below.
FEMALE — (
Figs. 1–5
) (
10 specimens
measured). Dorsum — Dorsal idiosomal shield distinctly wider anteriorly than posteriorly, with areolate to polygonal pattern anterior to Z4, except for a smooth band along most of the margin; in some individuals, a faint areolate to polygonal pattern is also distinguishable between Z4 and Z5; with anterolateral diagonal striation; 341 (323–380) long, 204 (177–220) wide at level of s4, 185 (180–191) at level of S4. Setae j1 24, j3 29, j4 20 (17–22), j5 21 (19–22), j6 24 (23–24), J2 29 (28– 29), J5 10 (10–12), z2 26 (24–29), z4 29 (27–30), z5 24 (22–26), Z1 29 (26–31), Z4 34 (31–36), Z5 46 (45–48),

Tenuisternum bahiense
n. g., n. sp.: Female — 1. Dorsal shield; 2. ventral surface; 3. Chelicera; 4. Spermatheca; 5. Leg IV. Male — 6. Ventrianal shield; 7. Spermatodactyl.
Peritreme — Extending to the level between j3 and z2.
Venter — All shields smooth and poorly sclerotized; sternal shield with only lateral margins faintly visible; metasternal shields indistinct. Sternal shield area with 3 pairs of setae and 2 pairs of lyrifissures. Setae st4 on soft cuticle. Distance between st1–st3 65 (59– 68), st2–st2 62 (60–63) and st5–st5 64 (63–68). Genital shield considerably wider than ventrianal shield; the former 69 (62–80) wide at widest level. With one pair of metapodal shields. Ventrianal shield vase shaped, 100 (97–108) long, 46 (34–52) wide at widest level anterior to JV2, 65 (63–68) wide at anus level, with only a pair of preanal setae (JV2) and a pair of solenostoma, the latter posterior and slightly mesad to JV2.
Chelicera — Movable digit 36 (35–36) long, with 3 teeth; fixed digit 41 (39–45) long, with 10 teeth.
Spermatheca — Calyx tubular, 21 (17–24) long; atrium distinct.
Legs — Without macrosetae. Chaetotaxy of genu
II 22
/1,2/01 and genu
III 12
/1,2/0 1.
MALE — (
Fig 6–7
) (
5 specimens
measured).
Dorsum — Dorsal shield pattern and chaetotaxy similar to female, except that the areolate to polygonal pattern is clearly distinct in all individuals examined also between Z4 and Z5; 262 (251–289) long, 191 (180–196) wide at level of s4, 145 (143–14) wide at level of S4. Setae j1 21 (20–22), j3 23 (22–24), j4 18 (17–19), j5 19 (17–21), j6 21 (19–22) J2 20 (20– 21), J5 7, z2 22 (21–23), z4 24, z5 21 (19–22), Z1 20 (19–22), Z4 23 (22–24), Z5 28 (27–29),

S2 22
,
S4 18
(17–19),
S5 18
(17–21), r3 25 (24–27), R1 22 (21–23). Setae J2, Z4 and Z5 serrated; other setae smooth.
Peritreme — Extending to the level between j3 and z2.
Venter — Ventrianal shield subtriangular, with few light transversal and diagonal striation; with 6 pairs of preanal setae and a pair of solenostoma slightly posterior and mesad to JV2.
Chelicera — Movable digit 22 (22–23) long, with one tooth; fixed digit 27 (27–28) long, with 6 teeth.
