(privative) and
tranos
(clear, distinct), possibly alluding to the obscure relationships of the genus to the eyes of LeConte [masculine].
Diversity.
Two species in the temperate regions of eastern North America (
Atranus pubescens
) and Europe (
Atranus ruficollis
Gautier des Cottes).
Identification.
Lindroth (1968: 649) commented on the structural differences between the two species.
