Utinomi 1950a: 99. Armatoglyptes Kolbasov & Newman, 2005: 47 –51. Type species. Balanodytes taiwanus Utinomi, 1950 (by monotypy). Diagnosis. Lithoglyptinae having 2-segmented caudal appendages without pedestals, operculum without posterior processes (“auricles”), opercular bars with posterior projections, mantle with or without orificial knob, lateral bars present or absent. Remarks. Kolbasov & Newman (2005) included B. taiwanus in the nine species forming a new genus Armatoglyptes . However, this genus was erected without designation of a type species and is, therefore, a nomen nudum . It is an unavailable name but is treated herein as a junior synonym.
