In the United States, D. modestus have been taken from Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maine Massachusetts , New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia , and Wisconsin ( Otto 2022a ). New state records are now confirmed for Iowa, Missouri, South Carolina , and Tennessee . Four specimens were taken from a combination UV and blacklight trap in Missouri . One specimen was taken on a tree stump at a state park in Iowa . One specimen was taken from a panel trap placed in a state park in Delaware County Iowa . One specimen was taken at lights in South Carolina . Three specimens were taken from a Malaise trap in South Carolina . Two specimens were taken from a flight intercept trap in South Carolina . One specimen was taken from a tree trunk at night in Missouri . One specimen was taken from a V-FIT placed in Missouri . Four specimens were taken from Lindgren funnel traps either baited with Platypodinae lure or Ips lure in South Carolina . One specimen was taken from a log after dark in Tennessee .
