Triticum turgidum
Linnaeus
,
Species Plantarum
1
: 86. 1753
.
"Habitat - - -
-"
RCN: 721.
Lectotype
(Morrison in
Taxon
47: 707. 1998): Herb. A. van Royen No. 913.62-257 (
L
)
.
Current name:
Gigachilon polonicum
(L.) Seidl subsp.
turgidum
(L.)
A
.
Loeve
(
Poaceae
).
Note:
Bowden (in
Canad. J. Bot.
37: 669. 1959) designated 104.2 (LINN) as
lectotype
. However, Morrison (in
Taxon
47: 705. 1998) has found that this material belongs not to
T. turgidum
but rather to
T. aestivum
.
From the annotations, Morrison argues that 104.2 (LINN) was not original material for
T. turgidum
(but rather for
T. hybernum
) and rejects
Bowden's
typification, choosing a van Royen sheet as
lectotype
in its place.
