Comments.
The genus
Macroglenes
Westwood
includes species that are parasitoids, at least for the few species where the hosts are known, of gall midges (
Diptera
:
Cecidomyiidae
). The latest revision of the genus included the Palaearctic species (
Mitroiu 2010
). Three species were described from
Australia
by Girault (1925, 1925a):
M. clypeatus
(Girault)
,
M. congener
(Girault)
and
M. ipswichi
(Girault)
, but their descriptions, even if brief, indicate they are different species from those described bellow.
