Etymology.
The specific epithet ‘
amamioshimanus
’ refers to the
type
locality of the new species.
Distribution.
Japan
(Amami–oshima
Island
).
Remarks.
The new species was first recorded by
Shirozu (1964)
as
N. sinensis
, and this was followed by
Hayashi (1990)
. However, it distinctly differs from
N. sinensis
by its wings having scattered small marks and by the male tenth sternum with the subdistal portion strongly inflated and dorsally directed in lateral view. It is endemic to Amami–oshima Island in
Japan
. It appears to be closely related to
N. punctatolosus
Liu & Yang
in having the scattered small marks on the wings. However, males of
N. punctatolosus
have the tenth sternum acutely incised, and V–shaped on the basal margin in ventral view, and its distal tip rounded in lateral view.
