Etymology.— The specific epithet was given in honor to María Natividad Sánchez de Stapf, a Panamanian botanist that comes studying Boraginaceae s.l. in the two last decades including studies in Brazil and Central America, especially focusing the taxonomy of Cordia Linnaeus (1753: 190) genus that currently it is positioned in Cordiaceae .
