Diagnosis.
Wingspan:
10–11 mm
.
Forewing: narrow, dark brown.
Transverse lines: black; terminal line marked by black dots between veins.
Reniform: distinct, whitish grey, outlined by black.
Hindwing: unicolorous dark brown with an indistinct black discal spot.
Underside: unicolorous dark brown.
Male genitalia.
Tegumen: narrow.
Vinculum: short, stout.
Saccus: U-shaped, short.
Fultura superior: T-shaped with long narrow arms, fused with upper middle part of tegumen and ventrally with juxta-anellus; where three arms meet, a finger-like, ventrally directed, apically blunt process arises.
Valve: shorter than wide.
Ampulla: almost symmetrical, long, club-like, broad medially; densely setose with long hair-like setae bent inwards.
Pollex
: long, finger-like, equally broad throughout; subapically densely setose with long, hair-like setae bent inwards.
Digitus: almost symmetrical, left one slightly longer, both very long, narrow, tapered, curved, directed ventrally, apically pointed.
Juxta-anellus plate: huge, round, higher than wide.
Phallus: long, straight, slightly tapered towards apex, subapically slightly upturned; coecum relatively broad.
Vesica: with a large, straight, spine-like cornutus.
Female genitalia.
7
th
abdominal segment: heavily sclerotised, asymmetrical.
Anterior apophyses: length 1½ of posterior apophyses.
Position of ostium bursae: 1/6 from anterior edge of 7
th
segment, slightly displaced to left.
Ostium bursae: only slightly sclerotised on ventral side.
Antrum: only slightly sclerotised.
Ductus bursae: coils in several loops, membranous, long, 2½ X as long as corpus bursae.
Corpus bursae: elongated, only slightly wider subapically.
Appendix bursae: arising anteriorly from ductus bursae immediately after antrum.
Differential diagnosis.
P. parabala
differs from other species by the narrow, almost symmetrical ampulla and digitus and by the lightly sclerotised ostium bursae.
