Diagnosis
. Species of overall greyish-brown appearance. The male genitalia does not resemble that of any other Afrotropical species; the sacculus is similar to that of the
C. bantuella
species-group, but the tegumen, cucullus, and especially the pointed tubular phallotheca with numerous cornuti, are completely different.

Description
. Wingspan
11 mm
. Head brownish grey.Antenna: scape brownish grey without erect scales; flagellum brown. Labial palpus brown, white on upper side; third article about as long as second. Proboscis very short, almost vestigial. Thorax and tegula brownish grey. Forewing beige densely scattered with brown-tipped scales; costal cilia pale brown, dorsal cilia grey. Hindwing grey; cilia yellowish grey. Abdomen brownish grey.
Abdominal structures (

) Anterior lateral struts about twice as long as posteriors. Transverse strut very large, curved on distal edge, well sclerotized. Tergal disks (3
rd
tergite) about twice longer than wide, covered with about 45 conical spines.
Male genitalia (
Figs. 28-29
): Gnathos knob large, oval. Tegumen short and stocky, pedunculus short, dilated on the outside. Transtilla large, trapezoidal, slightly sclerotized, finely dotted. Valvula elongate triangular, partially overlapping cucullus. Cucullus short and broad, ear-shaped. Sacculus trapezoidal with narrower and more sclerotized external part, ventral and dorsal angles rounded. Phallotheca conical with more sclerotized edges, canalshaped, pointed at apex. Cornuti numerous spines of different length joined together in a bundle.
Female genitalia: Unknown.
Bionomy
. The early stages and the foodplant are unknown.

Etymology.
From Greek κονία = powder. Due to the powdery appearance of the species.
