He claimed that his material showed minor variations with Kunz’s (1937) description in the armature of the body appendages, in particular the shape of the modified setae on P1 exp-3 and the distal endopod segment of P2 and P4. Rao (1991) also stated that the antennary exopod carried two setae, a unique character within the Arenopontiidae (see also Arlt 1983 : Fig. 17 ). Without any illustrations given, the authenticity of this record cannot be confirmed.
