Tibicen chisosensis
Davis,
1934
new record
.
The
AMNH
has a specimen from Chihuahua, Matachic,
7
– VII–
1947
.
This record represents an approximately
475 km
range extension to the west for the species which has previously been reported only from the
Chisos
Mountains of Texas (
Davis
1934
,
Phillips & Sanborn
2007
). Matachic appears to be within the Sierra Madre Occidental of the Madrean floristic region (
Peet
1988
). There should be suitable habitat in the area if the specimen was collected in the mountains on either side of the valley containing Matachic.
The species has been associated with Mexican pinyon pine (
Pinus cembroides
Newberry
) (
Phillips & Sanborn
2007
) which is present in the Madrean floristic province (
Peet
1988
).
