Diagnosis.
Prosaspicera ueteri
can be differentiated from other species of
Prosaspicera
by the following characters (
Figs 17a
&
18a
): the occipital carina strongly angled behind the dorsal 1/3 of eye, gena expanded; vertex widely incised, ocelli strongly prominent; mesoscutum coriaceous, area between notauli and end of median mesoscutal furrow prominent; notauli narrower than median mesoscutal furrow, sometimes weakly coriaceous near margins; parascutal sulcus wide, continuing to anterior end of notauli; scutellar spine rather long.
Redescription. Length.
Females
2.6–3.4 mm
.; male
3.2 mm
.
Coloration.
Head black. Mesoscutum and mesopleura black with light brown streaks, pronotum ventrally light brown and dorsally black, scutellum light brown, darker in posterior part; metapleura, tegulae, propodeum, and metanotum light brown. Legs light brown, metatarsi darker. Metanotum dark brown with light brown streaks. Some specimens entirely black.
Head.
Frons coriaceous, sometimes with few carinae. Lateral frontal carinae very conspicuous, area between them and eye coriaceous. Occipital carina strongly angled behind dorsal 1/3 of eye. Gena expanded, with few transverse carinae, coriaceous and with scattered setae. Vertex widely incised and coriaceous, coriaceous posteriorly, sometimes with smooth areas with one carina on each side of median vertical groove, which is smooth. Ocelli strongly prominent. Occiput coriaceous, usually with smooth areas, delimited with one transverse carina.
Antenna.
FEMALE. Filiform. Antennal formula: 4(3): 2(2.5): 6.5(2): 6(2): 6(2): 6(2): 5.5(2): 5(2): 5(2): 4.5(2): 4.5(2): 4(2): 8.5(2). MALE. Filiform. Antennal formula: 4(2.5): 2(2): 5.5(2): 5.5(2): 5.5(2): 5.5(2): 5(2): 5(2): 4.5(2): 4.5(2): 4.2(2): 4(2): 3.8(2): 6.2(2).
Mesosoma.
Lateral surface of pronotum coriaceous, quite densely pubescent. Subpronotal plate coriaceous, pubescent laterally, glabrous centrally. Mesoscutum with scattered setae, coriaceous. Antero-admedian lines prominent, reaching between 1/3 and 1/2 length of mesoscutum, slightly confluent or parallel. Median ridge prominent and usually not divided before median mesoscutal furrow. Notauli narrower than median mesoscutal furrow and smooth centrally, sometimes weakly coriaceous near margins. Median mesoscutal furrow smooth. Area between notauli and end of median mesoscutal furrow slightly prominent. Parascutal sulcus wide, continuing to anterior end of notauli, weakly coriaceous with few scattered setae. Mesopleura granulated on anterior 1/5, smooth in posterior part. Scutellum 1.57 to 1.83 times length of scutum. Scutellar foveae big, shallow to rather deep, rounded, smooth, usually posterior margin incomplete, ocasionally complete. Interfoveal line prominent and lateral carinae continuing to first 1/2 of spine. Scutellar disc and spine granulated or conspicuously coriaceous. Scutellar spine, in lateral view, in same plane as scutellar foveae, slightly curved and reaching basis of radial cell of wing.
Wings.
Wing membrane hyaline. Radial cell between 2.00 and 2.20 times longer than wide. Marginal pubescence starting on lower 1/3 of the lateral margin, absent in some specimens. R1 very short, Rs slightly curved dorsally.
Biology.
Unknown.
Distribution.

Brazil
and
Argentina
; also from
