Remarks.
This species is believed to have been introduced with agricultural products in 1989 and is presently found in large numbers in
La Toma
and other streams (Abedrabbo
et al
. 1993;
Gerecke
et al
. 1995
). This species reportedly bites human (
Crosskey & Shelley 1994
). This blackfly is only permanently established on
San Cristóbal
, but during the 1998 El Niño event, it became temporarily established on three other islands (
Roque-Albelo & Causton 1999
).
